On Christmas when I was 11 years old my uncle gave me an Archer Super-Regen shortwave radio kit. I also got a soldering gun that looked like a pistol. It had 3 tubes and all kinds of components to put together. I had a wire antenna, which spread across the room and could tune all kinds of stations all over the world.
